Kendall County IVSS Coverage
Texas replaced county VINE and VINELink with Texas IVSS-Counties effective September 1, 2025. The current portal searches people in custody or under supervision and can send event notices. Legacy wording remains common, but present-day Kendall County instructions must use IVSS.
IVSS can report county booking, release, court changes, death, escape, or transfer to TDCJ when the participating agency supplies that event. “Under supervision” can describe a person outside a jail who remains on parole, mandatory supervision, or another covered status. An unknown or undisclosed label can reflect a pending court case. A transfer to TDCJ means custody continues.
The portal expressly says it is not an official record and that information may be incomplete or untimely. It does not replace KCSO's release sheet, a TDCJ record, or a signed court order.
Search Kendall County IVSS
Search with the strongest identifier available. IVSS accepts a full or partial name, DOC ID, SID, jail ID, or permanent booking number. When spelling is uncertain, the portal suggests the first three letters of the first name, a space, then the first three letters of the last name.
- Open Texas IVSS-Counties and choose the person-search function.
- Enter the full name or a documented identifier. Try the suggested partial-name pattern if spelling may vary.
- Compare each result's reporting agency, identifiers, status, and location. Do not select by name alone.
- Open the exact record and read the event type and event date as stated.
- Confirm a release, transfer, or supervision change with the agency that supplied the event.
A Kendall County jail event should identify the local reporting source. A TDCJ event belongs to the state correctional record. If neither appears, use the full custody-specific search path on the Kendall County released-inmate home page.
Kendall IVSS Release Fields
An IVSS record is built from agency data. Its fields help distinguish people and events, but each has a narrow meaning. Read the event rather than inferring a release from a missing result.

A former person may no longer appear. That absence cannot tell whether the person was released, transferred, discharged, or removed from public display. A saved alert plus the custodian's record provides a stronger chain of proof.
Register Kendall Release Alerts
Current registration uses an IVSS account and password. Users choose available call, text, or email contacts and the events they want. The historical four-digit VINE telephone PIN does not belong in the current workflow.
- Select the exact IVSS result after matching the reporting agency and identifiers.
- Create an account or sign in. Migrated VINE users update their password at first login.
- Choose the available custody, release, transfer, or court events that matter.
- Add call, text, or email destinations and set preferred contact hours or blackout dates.
- Save the choices and complete any confirmation the portal displays.
Registration help is available at 866-268-8959. Keep contact details current. If a person transfers, find the receiving agency's record and make sure notification follows the new custody source.
Note: A notification is fastest as an alerting tool; the agency record remains the source for an exact release time and disposition.
Kendall IVSS Release Limits
IVSS does not provide a complete federal release search. A federal sentence belongs in the BOP locator; a pre-BOP U.S. Marshals hold may require the federal case or USMS; and immigration detention belongs with ICE ODLS and ERO. A BOP status such as “Released” or “Not in BOP custody” only says BOP does not currently hold the person.
For KCDC, call KCSO at 830-249-9721 and request the booking and release sheet when exact time or disposition matters. For a state prisoner, the public TDCJ locator covers people currently incarcerated. It is not an archive of discharged people, so former custody may require TDCJ email, telephone, or Public Information Act routes and parole-status channels.
Texas VINELink Transition
The Texas Attorney General's notification page documents the statewide move from VINE to IVSS-Counties. Existing registrations migrated. Current users manage an account, password, event choices, and call, text, or email preferences in IVSS.
Older Texas VINE materials describe a four-digit PIN used in the former telephone flow. That procedure is historical. Mixing it into current steps can stop a user from completing registration or create false confidence that an old setup still controls new alerts.
The change also explains why a search for “Kendall County VINELink” should land on a differently named Texas portal. Legacy search language identifies the task; IVSS is the active tool.
Kendall IVSS No-Result Steps
First, retry with the documented partial-name format. Then search by SID, jail ID, permanent booking number, or DOC ID. Confirm that the selected result belongs to the correct reporting agency and county.
If the person was held at KCDC, compare KCSO's Current and 48 Hour Release rosters. Current means that county booking remains open. Released confirms exit from that booking, but the release sheet must state whether the person entered the community or transferred. If absent from both, call or request records.
For a TDCJ transfer, allow for intake delay and search the state locator by TDCJ or SID number. For parole or mandatory supervision, use TDCJ Parole Division. County probation instead belongs with the Kendall court judgment and Community Supervision and Corrections Department.

The current Texas IVSS-Counties portal is the correct screen for Kendall County searches and notification settings.
The portal view reinforces the key distinction: IVSS is an agency-fed search and alert layer, while KCSO, TDCJ, the court, or the federal custodian supplies the official record.
Confirm Kendall IVSS Events
For a county release alert, save the event, time received, reporting agency, and identifiers. Ask KCSO whether that booking was released, transferred, or remains held. Request the record that states actual date, time, and disposition. The live roster can corroborate a recent calendar date, but it does not consistently state the reason.
A court event needs its own check. The Kendall judicial portal may show docket activity beyond the short jail window. Obtain the signed order or judgment from the District Clerk for felony and district matters or the County Clerk for applicable county criminal matters. Court action and physical jail departure may occur at different times.
For a TDCJ event, match the SID or TDCJ number. A current detail can show location, sentence data, projected release information, parole eligibility, and scheduled release information when calculated. None proves the gate event. After departure, use TDCJ information, public-record, and parole channels.
Kendall Notification Custody Scope
Each locator answers only for its custodian. KCSO addresses a Kendall County booking. IVSS repeats participating county, court, and supervision events. TDCJ's online locator addresses current state imprisonment. The BOP locator covers federal sentences, and ICE ODLS addresses current immigration detention within its scope.
A person can move across those lines. KCDC may record release to TDCJ, yet incarceration continues. A state prisoner may leave prison on parole and remain under Parole Division supervision. A county probationer belongs with the sentencing court and Kendall CSCD, not the parole office. An ICE detainer can produce a county exit followed by federal civil custody.
Follow the receiving agency named in the source record. If none is stated, ask the releasing office rather than choosing a locator by guesswork. That keeps an IVSS alert useful without asking it to prove a fact outside its role.
The Texas DPS sex-offender registry is another narrow system. It applies only when registration law covers the person and does not establish the date of jail or prison release. A registry match can be checked for its own reported status and dates, while the original custodian remains responsible for the release record. Registry absence can reflect legal scope, timing, completion, or another change and should not be translated into discharge.
Likewise, a warrant page does not prove custody. It may identify an unresolved warrant, but KCSO, the court, or the agency holding the person must confirm the current state. Keep the event type and source separate.
When personal safety or case participation depends on notice, retain the IVSS confirmation and report missed or unclear events through the portal's support route. A source-agency call should follow any urgent alert. Notification preferences improve the chance of timely contact, but preferred hours and blackout dates can affect delivery. More than one contact method may reduce the risk of a missed message, subject to the choices the portal offers.
Keep identifiers with the notice. A common name without a SID, jail ID, permanent booking number, DOC ID, reporting agency, or matching dates may point to the wrong record. If data appears wrong, provide the source agency with the identifier, the field at issue, and any supporting official order. Ask for the correction result in writing, then review the IVSS record again after the agency processes it.
