Search Federal Prison Releases

To find someone released from the Federal Bureau of Prisons after a Kendall County federal case, use the federal locator and match the person carefully. No BOP prison is located in Kendall County. The bureau is included because a local defendant can enter federal custody or serve a federal sentence elsewhere. A federal result marked Released or Not in BOP custody answers only who holds the person now. It does not rule out supervised release, U.S. Marshals custody, Texas custody, immigration detention, or a later booking.

Kendall Federal Release Paths

The Federal Bureau of Prisons operates the federal prison system, not the Kendall County Detention Center. No federal correctional institution was identified inside Kendall County. A person arrested locally on a federal matter may be held for the U.S. Marshals Service in a local or regional contract bed before any BOP admission. A sentenced federal prisoner can later serve time at a BOP institution outside the county.

A move from KCDC to USMS ends the Kendall booking but is a custodial transfer. It is not community release. The KCSO release sheet should name the receiving authority when that information is releasable. The federal docket, counsel or clerk, and USMS then become the relevant paths until BOP intake creates a locator record. The Kendall released-inmate search explains how to preserve the county booking number and receiving-agency detail.

After a BOP sentence ends, the person may enter federal supervised release. That court-ordered supervision is distinct from imprisonment and from Texas parole or Kendall probation. A BOP locator status cannot establish every supervision condition or later warrant.

Search BOP Current and Former Records

The BOP Inmate Locator is the strongest public federal tool in this project because it retains many former-prisoner results, generally from 1982 onward. Search by BOP Register number, DCDC number, FBI number, or INS number when one is known. A name search accepts first, middle, and last name and can be narrowed with race, sex, and age.

  1. Choose number search when an official federal identifier is available.
  2. Otherwise enter the legal name and use age, race, or sex only to separate similar results.
  3. Compare the returned register number, age, release date, and location.
  4. Check the federal court docket to confirm that the result belongs to the same case.
  5. Save the result and access date, then verify important facts with BOP records.

A name match alone is weak evidence. Nicknames, name changes, spelling differences, and common names can join unrelated people. Compare identifiers and the sentencing district before treating the record as the Kendall-connected person.

BOP Release Status Meanings

A former federal result may display Released or Not in BOP custody with a release date or location. Those phrases mean BOP does not presently hold the person. They do not prove the person walked into the community on that date. Another authority may have accepted custody, and federal supervised release may begin after imprisonment.

Locator resultWhat it establishesWhat it does not establish
Current institutionThe person is reported in BOP custody at that location.Future release is final.
ReleasedBOP reports the federal custody event ended. No supervision or other custody exists.
Not in BOP custodyBOP does not currently hold the person.Community freedom, removal, or case completion.
No resultThe search did not locate a matching BOP record. The person was never or is no longer in federal custody.

First Step Act and other sentence calculations can change projected dates. A planned date is not the same as the completed release transaction.

USMS Custody Before BOP

USMS manages federal pretrial and sentenced prisoners and often uses state or local beds. It has no public historical released-person locator comparable to BOP. A person can therefore be absent from the BOP search while held under federal authority before designation or intake.

Use the federal case docket, the appropriate clerk, counsel, or USMS contact for that stage. Ask whether the person is awaiting trial, awaiting designation, in transit, or released under a court order. Do not treat the Kendall roster as the federal record. KCSO can confirm only the end or transfer of its own booking.

Custody boundary. Leaving KCDC for USMS or BOP is a transfer between custodians, not proof of release into the community.

BOP FOIA Release Records

When the locator is too narrow, use the BOP Freedom of Information Act route. Identify the full name, register number, date of birth, sentencing court, approximate custody dates, and the exact record sought. A focused request can ask for releasable incarceration history, release date, release institution, or transfer information.

FOIA exemptions and Privacy Act limits can restrict personal material. Ask for electronic records and a fee estimate rather than assuming a price or response date. The public locator is faster for a basic status check, while FOIA is the better archival route when the displayed result lacks needed detail.

The federal court judgment and docket establish the sentence and later court action. BOP establishes its custody and release transaction. Neither should be substituted for the other.

Federal Release Versus Other Custody

Kendall cases can cross several systems. BOP covers federal imprisonment. USMS covers federal pretrial custody and transport. ICE handles civil immigration detention. KCDC covers the county booking, while TDCJ covers a Texas prison sentence. Each database has a limited scope.

Federal supervised release
Court-ordered supervision after federal imprisonment, administered outside BOP confinement.
Transfer
A change in custodian without community release.
Release date
The date BOP reports its custody event ended, subject to record context.
Detainer
A request or legal basis for another authority to take or continue custody.

If immigration custody may follow, use ICE’s current locator and ERO route. If Texas custody follows, search TDCJ. Absence from BOP resolves none of those possibilities.

Federal Bureau Records Contact

There is no truthful Kendall County street address to place in a BOP facility card because no BOP institution was found in the county. Use the national locator and FOIA channels, then the specific institution shown in a matched current result.

Before contacting an institution, confirm the register number and current location. Transfers can make an old facility address useless. For a pre-BOP person, use the federal court or USMS path instead.

Confirm a Kendall Federal Release

Start with the last confirmed custodian and work forward. Obtain the KCSO release sheet if the person left a Kendall booking for federal authorities. Match that receiving agency to the federal case. Search BOP by number, preserve the result, and use FOIA when historical detail is missing.

Then determine whether supervised release or another custodian followed. A federal probation record or court order may show supervision, while ICE, TDCJ, or another jail must confirm its own custody. The narrow conclusion should be stated exactly: BOP custody ended, the person transferred, or community release was independently confirmed.

Note: No database described here proves character, guilt, safety, or the final outcome of a separate case.
