TDCJ Releases Serving Kendall
No Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison unit was identified inside Kendall County. TDCJ is listed because a person sentenced beyond the county-jail term can transfer from the Kendall County Detention Center into the statewide prison system. That transfer ends the county booking but is not release from incarceration. Match the KCSO disposition to the TDCJ intake and eventual seven-digit TDCJ number.
A person later leaving TDCJ may enter parole or mandatory supervision, or may discharge at the sentence end. Parole and mandatory supervision mean physical prison custody ends while the sentence continues under Parole Division supervision. Discharge is the recorded end of the sentence. The TDCJ release or discharge record, parole status, and sentencing judgment establish which event occurred.

- Search by exact last name and at least a first initial, or use the TDCJ or SID number.
- Use gender and race only to narrow results, then compare identifiers and sentence facts.
- Open the detail and record the unit, offense, sentence dates, projected date, parole eligibility, and any scheduled release data.
- Do not treat a projected or scheduled date as proof that the person left.
- After departure, request incarceration history and the actual release or discharge record.

TDCJ Is a State System
TDCJ is the Texas state prison system, not a Kendall County jail. It holds sentenced state prisoners in units across Texas. KCSO says county jail sentences are typically up to one year and people serving longer terms move to TDCJ or a state-jail facility. The exact commitment comes from the judgment and county transfer record.
This scope excludes a person who bonded out of KCDC, completed a county sentence, or entered Kendall probation. It also excludes federal and immigration custody. BOP handles federal commitments, while ICE handles civil immigration detention. Use the system that actually held the person.

A date can change because of records review, parole action, good-time loss, detainers, court orders, or other legal factors. Even the scheduled date may change without notice. Confirm the accomplished event after it occurs.
Find Former TDCJ Records
When a person disappears from the current locator, send TDCJ the identifiers and ask for incarceration history, release or discharge date and type, maximum-expiration date, and parole or mandatory-supervision status. A redacted release certificate or discharge record is stronger proof than search absence.
The sentencing court can supply the judgment and sentence, but it does not usually prove the exact TDCJ gate time. Parole Division can confirm supervision after prison. Pair the records when both sentence history and physical release matter.

TDCJ Dates Are Not Release
Projected Release Date is calculated from the sentence and applicable release framework. For older mandatory-supervision-eligible offenses, flat time plus good time may affect the projected path. For later offenses, discretionary mandatory supervision can require Board approval. A denial can move the projection toward maximum expiration, while later approval can change it again.
Scheduled Release Date appears later, after approval, prerequisites, and a Classification and Records audit. Scheduled Release Location identifies planned processing. Neither field confirms that the person crossed the gate. Obtain the actual release transaction afterward.
Kendall Transfer to TDCJ
KCSO's local facility explanation makes this distinction concrete. A person serving longer than the typical county term can leave the 153-bed Kendall facility for the state system. Roster disappearance can therefore mean transfer, not freedom.
Ask KCSO for the receiving agency and disposition, then allow for TDCJ intake delay. Search by SID when available and match the state detail to the county booking. If the state locator later stops returning the person, switch to TDCJ records and parole channels rather than assuming discharge.
TDCJ Release and Other Holds
A state release decision does not erase every other restraint. A warrant, detainer, county hold, federal process, or immigration action can change where the person goes. No ICE detention facility or contract was confirmed in Kendall County, but an ICE transfer remains possible in an individual case.
Follow the receiving authority stated in the TDCJ or county record. ICE ODLS and ERO address immigration detention; BOP and federal court records address federal custody. Describe the event as transfer until community release is independently established.
TDCJ Time Credit Records
Texas good-conduct time rules affect classification and some release calculations, but good time does not shorten the judicial sentence itself. A useful request identifies the full name, seven-digit TDCJ number, SID, birth date where appropriate, county of conviction, court, and cause number. TDCJ accepts formal requests through its web form, email, mail, and hand-delivery routes. Published costs can include copying, delivery, and labor or overhead for larger work. Ask for electronic copies and an itemized estimate before ordering a large file.
Match Kendall TDCJ Identities
A name alone is weak proof. Match the KCSO booking and transfer disposition to the SID and later TDCJ number, then compare conviction county, court, cause, offense, and sentence dates. Intake delay can explain why a recent transfer does not appear at once.
If identifiers conflict, ask each source agency to correct its own record. Supply the disputed field, reliable identifier, and supporting signed order. Keep the written response with the release packet.
Build a TDCJ Release Packet
For a Kendall sentence, preserve the court judgment, KCSO transfer sheet, TDCJ intake match, incarceration history, and actual release or discharge certificate. If parole follows, add the parole status and assigned office. This sequence shows where county custody ended and state custody began.
One record should not be forced to answer every question. The court proves the sentence. KCSO proves the county exit. TDCJ proves state custody and departure. Parole Division proves supervision. A federal or immigration agency proves any later transfer within its own system.
